When his mother’s mobility challenges made navigating her home difficult, Arthur transformed her space with widened doorways, a curbless shower, and mobility bars. “She wasn’t just safer,” Arthur recalls, “she had regained her independence and dignity.”
In 2020, when a fellow contractor fell ill during several ADU projects, Arthur stepped in. Working with families creating spaces for aging parents and building income properties, he recognized ADUs as solutions to the Bay Area’s housing crisis. This conviction strengthened when he successfully built an ADU on his aunt and uncle’s challenging hillside property that other contractors had deemed impossible.
Arthur launched Artworks ADU with a focus on creating spaces that solve real human challenges. “When homeowners see their completed ADU, I often witness the same expression I saw on my mother’s face—a look that says,
“This space makes everything possible again.”
